Chrissy's Easy & Under 15 Minute Homemade Teriyaki Sauce

There is something special about making your own Teriyaki Sauce at home. I love this for any marinades, however my favorite one is for some amazing kabobs on the BBQ with some pineapple chunks, and fresh veggies!

Chrissy's Shish Kabobs

This recipe is so so fresh and delicious yet easy and quick, so why buy it in a store?

By the way this is preservable if you bring it to the right temp and seal it properly in a clean sterilized mason jar.

How To Preserve 101

 Making it at home you know the ingredients and the flavors just seem so much more enhanced and fresh. It is just soo Yummm! 


2 Cups Water
5/8 Cup Packed Brown Sugar
1/2 Cup Soy Sauce
2 Tablespoons Honey
2 Tablespoons Pineapple Juice (For Citric Acid)
1 Teaspoon Fine Ground Black Pepper
2 Tablespoons Minced Garlic
1 Tablespoon Ground Fresh Ginger
1/4 Cup Corn Starch 


Start with 1 1/2 Cups of the water, all of the brown sugar, soy sauce, honey, garlic, ginger, black pepper, and pineapple juice in a medium sized sauce pan. 

Heat to medium heat. Stir occasionally to combine ingredients and so sugar melts. 

In a measuring cup whisk your corn starch and remaining water together until the corn starch is dissolved then turn heat off and slowly start whisking in the corn starch mixture. 

Let set for about 10 minutes. Check the thickness if it is too thick, then slowly add teaspoons of cold water and whisk it into the pan. Remember it will also thicken as it cools.

It is also OK if once cooled it is still too thick to re-heat and whisk in ice water slowly a few teaspoons at a time until desired thickness (not adding the ice into the pan. I usually use a spoon to hold it back from falling into the pan) 

You can cool in an air tight container in your fridge or once cooled marinade your favorite meats and veggies.  

Add it to your favorite BBQ sauce or hot sauce for a spicy twist! 

*** For Spicy Version*** 1 Tablespoon of Sriracha or pepper flakes. But I have also added a couple minced hot peppers to the sauce when I was cooking it and it was amazing! 🌶🌶🌶🌶🌶
